My September Book Wrap-up

Apparently, I was very busy in September. Busy scaring myself and then picking up another book like I hadn’t learned a thing.

I read fourteen books this month, and there were definitely more dark reads than I’m used to. Was I scared? Yes. Did I stop reading? Obviously not. Look at this list.

Here’s what I read:

  • Howl by Meg Alivien
  • We Used to Live Here by Marcus Kliewer
  • A Dark and Secret Magic by Wallis Kinney
  • Big Bad Wolf by Laurie Gilmore
  • Tell Me What You Did by Carter Wilson
  • Verity by Colleen Hoover
  • The Knight and the Moth by Rachel Gillig
  • The September House by Carissa Orlando
  • Go as a River by Shelley Read
  • Cackle by Rachel Harrison
  • Something About September by Julia McKay
  • The Ex Hex by Erin Sterling
  • The Winter People by Jennifer McMahon
  • The Unknown by Riley Sager

My husband gifted me Big Bad Wolf in my book basket, which was very sweet of him. Books as gifts? Please continue.

Verity was a reread in time for the movie, and The Unknown was my first taste of Riley Sager. I was hooked, so apparently I have another author’s books to make room for. A problem I’m very willing to have.

You won’t find star ratings here. I do have a Fable account, and yes, I put stars on there, but those stars are based on whatever mood I’m in when I finish. I would not recommend this system. At all.

Mood readers, you understand the struggle.

I read for the vibes. Sometimes I’m appreciating the writing, and sometimes I know exactly what I picked up and I’m happy to be there. It doesn’t all have to be the best thing I’ve ever read for me to enjoy it.

And I think books deserve a chance. Sometimes the one you weren’t expecting much from ends up being the one you can’t stop talking about. Just saying.

What are your go-to fall books? And what else should I read for October? Spooky recommendations welcome, although I may come back and ask why you did that to me.

Softly & Slowly,
Cindy
