A new blog is born. And I’m six months shy of turning 40. Normally, I don’t like to share my age, but I’m at that point in life where I really don’t care. Life is good, and it feels good too. Why are we whispering about it?
I think we get to a point where all we want is to surround ourselves with what brings us joy. Sharing life and making the internet fun again are part of mine.
I miss the days when we shared our hopes, dreams, and weekend pictures without needing a trending sound. I miss getting so caught up in conversations and hanging on to every single word of a story. Chips and dip on a nearby patio, laughing until our stomachs hurt. Being passionate about life, getting a little too invested in our reality TV guilty pleasures, and sharing something simply because we enjoyed it. Imagine that.
Somewhere, we got caught up in the excitement and direction of what was happening online. We began to mimic what we saw and maybe lost a little of our joy and sparkle too, because we got confused about what we missed and what we thought we’d be missing out on.
So I decided that today is the day that stops. I don’t want to spend another minute missing what I still have, right here, right now.
I’m taking back my time and slowing down to live a little, laugh a lot, and fill my cup my favorite way. Yeah, I still have to work, be a mom and wife, and do the million other things that pile up throughout the day. Apparently, starting a blog does not excuse me from laundry. Rude.
But I get a say in how I spend my time, and I’m making room for reading and getting lost in stories, crafternoons with friends, more travel, more adventure, and more documenting so I can remember. I want to look back and remember how much fun we had, even if twelve people liked the picture.
I still have a lot of things I want to do, so let’s go out and do them together. I bet you’ve got some things you want to do too. Tell me. I want the whole story.
Rooting for you, always.
Softly & Slowly,
Cindy
