Kilted Charm and Heartfelt Banter: A Some Like It Scot Book Review
By Pepper Basham | Narrated by Joshua Manning & Stina Nielsen
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ (4 stars)

Okay, confession time: I wasn’t even in a romance headspace when I started Some Like It Scot… but whew, Pepper Basham pulled me right in like a warm plaid blanket and a cup of tea in the Highlands. This book is adorable. Think: Scottish charm, sweet and swoony moments, and the kind of character growth that makes your heart do a happy little jig.

I was lucky enough to receive an early copy from NetGalley (book fairy blessings, thank you!), and even though I wasn’t exactly looking for a love story at the time, this one gently swept me off my feet—and I wasn’t mad about it.

Some Like It Scot Book Review: The Story

This is a romance that doesn’t rush—it simmers. It’s about two people, both with a bit of emotional baggage (aren’t we all?), learning how to trust, open up, and build something real together. The slow-burn chemistry, paired with genuine friendship and mutual respect, gave me all the warm fuzzies. I especially loved watching them grow together—not just fall in love, but truly build it.

There’s just enough wit and humor to keep things sparkly, plus a good dash of that classic rom-com charm that makes you want to cozy up and root for love. And did I mention the Scottish accents? Because YES.

The Audiobook: Narration by Joshua Manning & Stina Nielsen

Joshua Manning and Stina Nielsen brought this story to life in such a fun, emotional, and authentic way. The accents, the pacing, the chemistry between characters—it all worked beautifully in audiobook format. I love a dual-narrator experience, and this one nailed it. If you’re an audiobook girlie, definitely give this a listen.

Why You’ll Love Some Like It Scot

💫 Sweet, Slow-Burn Romance – This one takes its time in the best way. Think friends-to-lovers with heart.
💫 Character Growth Galore – Watching these two heal and open up together? So satisfying.
💫 Scottish Vibes – I mean… the kilts, the setting, the accent. Need I say more?
💫 Warm, Feel-Good Energy – Even if you’re not in a romance mood, this one is the perfect gentle escape.

Final Thoughts on Some Like It Scot

This book is like a Hallmark movie with better banter and more emotional depth. Even if you’re not actively craving a romance, Some Like It Scot is the kind of story that meets you where you are—gently, sweetly, and with just the right amount of kilted charm. I finished it smiling, and honestly? Sometimes that’s exactly what a book should do.

POV: You started living for the little moments — POV: You started living for the little moments — and they made life feel big again.⁣
⁣
Because it’s not always about doing more.⁣
Sometimes it’s about noticing what’s already here.⁣
⁣
The sound of laughter from the other room.⁣
⁣
The way your hands move when you’re ⁣
creating something just for fun.⁣
⁣
That feeling of peace when you stop rushing and let the moment stretch out a little longer.⁣
⁣
These aren’t just filler moments — they’re the ones that make up a life.⁣
⁣
The good stuff isn’t always loud or flashy.⁣
⁣
Sometimes it’s soft, quiet, and tucked into the corners of your day.⁣
⁣
Lately, I’ve been reminding myself: maybe we don’t need to chase the next big thing.⁣
⁣
Maybe it’s about noticing the daily glimmers, the little luxuries, the small sparks of joy that light us up — and letting those be enough.⁣
⁣
If you’re into that kind of life too… you’re in the right place. Stick around — I’m just getting started.⁣

How lucky am I?⁣ 🍀 (blessed, really) ⁣ Luck How lucky am I?⁣ 🍀 (blessed, really)
⁣
Lucky to make memories with the people I love.⁣
⁣
Lucky that my kid still thinks I’m cool (I’m holding onto that like gold).⁣
⁣
Lucky for morning coffee and the quiet ritual of starting fresh.⁣
⁣
That little sigh when the day begins and it’s just… mine for a moment.⁣
⁣
Lucky for walks in the sunshine, digging my hands in the dirt, and remembering what it feels like to be grounded.⁣
⁣
Lucky to make time for joy — to create, to play, to chase what makes me feel alive, instead of waiting for some mythical “later.”⁣
⁣
Lucky to live a life that’s not perfect, but mine — full of softness, effort, hope, and meaning.⁣
⁣
And lucky for the friends who remind me who I am on the days I forget.⁣
⁣
The ones who add that little razzle dazzle, that sparkle, that oh yeah, this is what it’s all about.⁣
⁣
If you’re in a season of noticing the good stuff — even in the middle of the mess — I see you.⁣

We’re lucky to feel it. To live it.⁣

What’s something you’re lucky for lately?
What even *is* this magical life?✨ ⁣ ⁣ Hones What even *is* this magical life?✨ ⁣
⁣
Honestly? Last week dragged harder than my feet on a Monday morning… but somehow, it was still full of those sparkly little moments that make life feel *weirdly* magical.⁣
⁣
Board games? Always a yes—especially when I win (which I did, obviously). ⁣
⁣
Turning travel days into treat-yourself adventures? Say less. ⁣
⁣
Sunshine and digging around in the garden? Literal heaven. ⁣
⁣
And don’t even get me started on that blood moon under a sky full of stars—main character energy.⁣
⁣
Somehow, even in the chaos, there’s still space to dream, play, and romanticize the little things.⁣
⁣
Because let’s be real—a magical life isn’t always a big moment... sometimes it’s just snacks, stargazing, and pretending your errands are a rom-com montage.⁣
