September has officially arrived…
And if you’re like us, September 1st usually means it’s time to bust out the fall decoration box, light that fall scented candle (pumpkin apple from bath and body works is our fave) and turn on the Gilmore Girls.
I love the seasons, each and every single one. But there is just something so special about fall. I don’t know if it’s because we have birthdays to celebrate in October and holidays that stack up neatly in a row, but if I had to pick, I’d say it’s my very favorite season of all.
It’s important to note however, that the weather here in our beautiful Hawaii doesn’t really lend itself to the season, so we have to adopt a “fake it til we make it” mentality. If the house feels cozy, then it feels like fall. If we want to feel the cooler temps we hike up Mauna Kea, or visit The Volcano National Park for a cooler breeze, and honestly what a gift to be able to change temps on a dime like that.
Changes…
As the fall leaves begin their cycle of renewal, I feel like we do too. It’s a great season for reflection and redirection. Just in the nick of time… before the new year arrives. This season, I’m focusing on my health and really trying to get a grasp on my PCOS. And understand how my body reacts to different foods and movement. I’ve been focusing on increasing my protein, and finding workouts that I actually enjoy. Zumba is currently my favorite, and slow cardio mornings (walking on the pad) with Gilmore Girls on in the background.
I’m also choosing to spend less time worrying and more time in gratitude. Like focusing on being present everyday. And keeping an eye out out for the little glimmers that show up in our day to day life. The little moments that make things feel special. Like that rainbow on the drive home. Or that front row parking at the post office on a busy day.
Fall is also a great opportunity to change gears and focus on the things that bring you immense joy. As for me, I got the cozy fall books on the shelf at the ready. A list of my favorite fall movies to stream with my family. And the necessary ingredients in the pantry for Pumpkin Chocolate Chip Cookies on a whim. It’s the perfect time to slow down, soften the edges and just be.
Here’s hoping you have a great start to a soft and slow season. One that renews you and brings you so much joy. If you feel up to it, I’d love for you to share your fall favorites with me especially over on instagram or you can drop a comment below. (I’d really love that!)
Until next time…
With love,
Cindy
